| MAJOR FASHION CRITIQUE PS:// Tried my best to crop as much details from the abov pics so that none of the blogshops' business will be affected. Please pardon my skills. Due to recent changes of fashion trends on this God given-green earth; a small, but very strong belief has formed in my mind: There's always a thin line between knowing your Fashion and actual Modesty (preserving your self-image). I was at FarEast Plaza today, shopping for evening-maxi dresses when it suddenly struck me that the new trend was the Lack-Of-Inner-Wear-Over-A-Translucent-Chiffon-Material. You name it, they've done that to the outfit. Chiffon work/casual collar blouses, maxi skirts, cocktail dresses. I go on the streets and I see people in black tubes that cover their boobs which is then barely draped over by a sheer chiffon cloth. I swear, I freaking stare at their chests because I think it's absolutely distracting and disturbing. First thing that comes to one's mind would be, "What, do you lack finances to buy the remaining cloth for your inner-wears?" Oh, and don't you get started on the maxi skirts. What's up, people? What is up? Blogshops are adopting this style. And sadly, my dear ASOS dresses their models up in this manner too; which really... irks me. No offence, Asos (totally love you guys but this... I'm not so crazy this). TBH, I think it's one of the silliest things to compromise- your inner wear. Comparing to other Western countries, Singapore's culture screams "conservative." It barely flaunts assets blatantly so I see no reason why Fashion would be of exception. So, I may give a cultural discount to ASOS just for this time but, Singapore? Hmm. Previously, when wearing a translucent 2nd layer, one would wear an opaque tank/petticoat/safety shorts that covers up places most people don't need to see, such as your naval. The very nature of fashion is absurd and queer, I don't doubt it. It's edgy, it's fun- that's what makes it... Fashion. I love it. But, I'm very sure that everyone of us was given a right thinking mind to know what kind of trends are inappropriate at the wrong time. |
